Minutes of the May 8, 2002
New Jersey Computer Club Meeting

The regular monthly Meeting of the New Jersey Computer Club was held at the North Branch Reformed Church starting at 7:00 PM. There were  42 members and 6 guests in attendance.

  • Fred Sabin welcomed all present and had new guests introduce themselves and tell how they found out about the NJCC.

 

  • The Minutes and Treasurers Reports were approved as posted on the NJCC website.

  • Fred Sabin reported on the April 10, 2002 meeting of the NJCC Executive committee and on the following items:

 

  1. NBRC has arranged for cable modem installation. The Club's share of the cost will be $7 per month.

  2. NJCC has a new computer thanks to the generosity of Phil Corbo. This has save the Club $500 in proposed upgrades for its current computer.

  3. $500 approved by the general meeting for the 2002 NJCC Founders' Memorial Award Scholarship has been donated to Raritan Valley Community College for an eligible student. Fred Sabin and Tom Kehoe made the presentation.

  4. The period for NJCC dues was changed by the Executive Committee to coincide with the calendar year. Current members will automatically have the termination of their membership period extended from 9/30/02 to 12/31/02.

  5. RVCC Computer Club community project for seniors held on April 27, 2002 was a success.

  6. Free PC Expo passes for June are available to Club members only. Those interested should see Terry Beck.

  7. Mary Gorski, Irene Getz, and Terry Beck have very graciously volunteered to rotate responsibility for refreshments at club meetings.

  8. The Trenton Computer Festival was held at the Raritan Center on May 4th & 5th. Attendees' impressions were discussed.

  9. Fred Sabin has posted evaluations of gobeProductive, Alpha Five, and SoundPix Plus on the Club website.

 

  • John Beck announced that Tom Kehoe, our Club secretary, will give two workshops for new users on PC basics. The first will be held at the North Branch Reformed Church on May 22nd and the second on June 26th. Details may be found on the njcc.org website. There will be no Club meetings during July or August.

  • Gene Barlow demonstrated several PowerQuest Corporation Products including PartionMagic 7.0 and Drive Image 5.0
