The
second Wednesday of the month General Meeting of the New Jersey Computer Club was held at the
North Branch Reformed Church.
Pastor Todd Buursta of
the North Branch Reformed Church read a prayer,
after a moment of silence, to honor those who lost their lives in the
September 11, 2001 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center Towers and
the Pentagon. Comments from Club members on the 9/11 attacks followed.
Fred
Sabin, Club President, had new guests introduce themselves and tell how they found out about the NJCC.
John
Beck led a Random Access period inviting members and guests to bring up any
questions about the use of personal computers
John
Beck also discussed new programs including a presentation on Windows XP's
pros and cons for the fourth Wednesday (25th) in September. On October 1st
the Courier News' Senior Scoop is scheduled to have an article
on the NJCC.
Fred
Sabin and Doris Smith emphasized the need for volunteers to assist in
continuing the Club's Computer refurbishing and scholarship programs. Since
Phil Corbo, refurbisher-in-chief, is moving out-of-state, new volunteers are
urgently requested. Those interested should write to president@njcc.org.
Maurice
Meyers urged the Club to better define itself and what it has to offer. A
lively discussion followed.
Stephen
Emde
of NJCC's Executive Committee discussed virus protection. His in-depth
presentation included the new features in Norton's AntiVirus 2003.
Respectfully
submitted,
Tom
Kehoe
